The origination of Bertha Mag is described by the creator as follows:
"Bertha Mag was born out of wanting to show my grandmother Bertha a bit of what is nowadays being done in the world of photography. The magazine gathers different rising artists from all over the world to present their work and make it known to those interested in photography."
