important update

Okay, that might be false advertising as this is not all that important in the grand scheme of things, but I'm sure you're all dying to know what bedding we finally decided on for Tad.

It was the Birds.

Tad was just set on a bird motif. We looked at a coverlet from Urban Outfitters which I can say I'm glad went out of stock before we got around to buying. We also checked out this duvet from Dwell, but we really loved the one pictured above from West Elm.

He said he didn't like patterned pillows, so we went with a solid sheet set from The Company Store. He chose a brown color that was appropriately named "pinecone".

And Tad loves basket weave blankets. Luckily, we were able to find a handsome taupe colored blanket at Room & Board.

Then for a little fun, he picked this Squirrel Pillow from Velocity.

It's going to be cute, right? And I'm really proud of him because he picked it all out himself. At this point, I should note that when we first started this process he told me he wanted bright blue zebra striped sheets. I'm glad we wandered away from that initial thought and ended with this one which is more age appropriate and has a subtle quirkiness. Tad's bedroom is wood paneled with a huge window on one wall. So, this bedding is gonna look great in his space and, more importantly, he's gonna love it. So, hoorah, victory!

no kidding.

These handsoaps would make a charming baby shower gift, don't you think?

Seriously though, you love them, don't you?

keeping mum

Black comedies are the best comedies.

This is a great little movie called Keeping Mum. It's dark. It's funny. It's English. It's endearing. You'll love it. I did, at least. Watch the trailer. Look for yourself.

See wasn't that the cutest? It's Maggie Smith as a murderous Mary Poppins. The whole cast is great. The writing is wonderful and dear. What else can I say?

other movies that i think are a little like this one that are also very, very good....

so fresh

A few days ago automatism was featured at Apartment Therapy for her now famous Domino Archive Posts. They're gorgeous, well-curated, and a little taste of the inspirational goldmine that was the late/great decor mag. Anyhow, here are some shots from automatism's most recent archive that I found particularly delightful (and which are now a part of my photo archives).

I've noticed myself becoming increasingly attracted to whites, greys, beiges, greiges, and various shades of neutral, but white is especially fantastic, clean, and shiny.

Thing-a-ma-jig-ism

Flora Grubb*. A truly, aptly, and adorably named San Franciscan floriculturist defies gravity with her vertical gardens. It's practically fantastic.

Check out her Thigmotrope (thing•a•ma•jig) that she has climbing up this here wall in this here motel out there in California. It's pretty darn sweet.

new bedding

I'm picking out shams for Tad's new bedding. It's his birthday present from our mom. He wants me to do the choosing. Which means it will actually be less girly than if he were to do it himself.
Love these

Also love and more likely to get these. (the white and grey shams)

Thankfully, he's not interested in my blog, so he won't know that he's also getting one of these pillows and a print of this illustration from Andy Warhol's book 25 Cats Named Sam and One Blue Pussy.

ah snap!

The store opened today. It's gorgeous. People love it. It feels good to be back in Atlanta, too.
(I miss this when I'm busy.)

Today was our official opening day. It went beautifully. Busy, but not too busy. Just a perfect pace to warm-up for what I'm sure will be a crazy weekend. If you're in town or out and about, come by to check it out. You could win a $5000 gift card to Room & Board...
(Or get lunch at West Egg where there are cupcakes. Cupcakes make everyone a winner.)

Anyways, on the way home I was listening to Lady Gaga's Just Dance when this car pulled up beside me just to rock out. It was the best. I was beat and they completely made my day.

Subject: Remixes cont.
This one is pretty brilliant, too.
And, uh, this one just had its way with me.
